Evaluation

Positives and Negatives

The areas that I think turned out the best was the shot I did for the ‘filmmaker’ prompt, I was inspired by Henry Selick who directed Coraline so I made this shot stop motion which was the way they filmed Coraline. I took lots of pictures of me opening a small door and photoshopped a picture of space behind each each one. I think this turned out really well. Whilst on this project I learned how to edit sound in Premiere Pro. I was really happy with the end result as the sound is pretty much how I wanted it to be. If I were to do the project over again I would use a camera rig for my final shot to improve the stability of the shot as the one I filmed was really shaky. I would have also made the ‘filmmaker’ shot longer by taking more photos as it would have had a better effect.

Feedback

My feedback on my final piece was mainly positive. Overall the filmmaker and final shot were the most complimented, they also liked the close up shot of the headphones with music overlaid. My main criticisms were the stop motion shot to be longer, for the subjects in the shots to be more central and to practice focusing on moving subjects. I agree with all the criticism I have received and I’m overall happy with my final piece.

Skills Used

I used the different subjects on the character sheet throughout my project. I was driven in coming up with ideas and helping others to achieve the best ideas they could and I used communication, responsibility and people skills when working with the rest of my group to go out and film the shots they needed for their film as well as my own. I used grit and drive skills when I was completing the post production tasks and I used people and respect skills in responding to others work and giving them feedback.

Time taken on project:

9am - 4.45pm = 7.45 hrs

7.45 - 1 hr - 30 mins = 6.15hrs

Given assignment on wed 14th = 5 college days working on it

6.15 hrs X 5 = 31.15 hrs

8 non college days = 30 mins a day = 4 hrs

31.15 hrs + 4 = 35.15 hrs overall

Ideas, researching, discovering = approx. 4 hrs

Planning and organising = approx. 6.15 hrs

Practicing, testing skills = approx. 3.30 hrs

Filming = approx. 5 hrs

Post production = approx. 12.30 hrs

Other (helping others in my group film) = approx. 4 hrs

Predicted grade = merit

Targets:

Use any extra equipment (camera rigs, lighting, sound) to make each shot perfect.

Practice focus techniques on moving subjects so shot is always in focus.
