horror poster and trailer research

For my project I want to create a movie poster and trailer to go along side my short film. I need to research other movie posters within the same genre and assess the codes and conventions they use to show the genre of the film and attract the attention of the viewer.

Both of these posters are from psychological horror films which is the same genre as I plan to make my short film. They both use different techniques to convey the genre of the film but they both use the face of the main character as the salient image. This implies that one of the main themes of the film is humanity and/or deals with the human image, they also both use symmetry which is used widely in posters and photography as it's visually pleasing and attracts the attention of the audience.

This research has been really useful as I can plan my poster using these techniques in order to ensure the genre of the film comes across and portrays the main themes/tone of the film.
