The Locket Poster

This is the the poster for my short film 'The Locket'. I felt it was the most important factor to make sure the final poster conveyed the genre for the film, in order to make it look like a psychological horror film I first researched other film posters within this genre (you can find the blog post here), and analysed their codes and conventions. I found that they often used a face as their salient image and had features in the poster which directly linked to the films plot. I incorporated this in my poster by using the main character as the salient image and having her wear the necklace which is a main part of the story. I also wanted the poster to look old and worn, similarly to a photo she finds in the film, therefore I overlaid various worn photo and damaged edges pictures to give this effect. I slightly overexposed the light reflecting off the locket she's wearing in order to give the poster a main focal point, i think it also makes the locket look more enticing to the viewer which is another main plot point. I thought it was also important to make sure the poster was symmetrical as many films, especially horror films, use symmetry in the posters to make it more pleasing to the eye and guide the viewer to look at the most important parts of the poster.
