Production Diary - Script and Storyboard

I've just finished my script and storyboard for my short film section of this project, I found it really challenging to complete this section of my pre production work as I'm not particularly strong at creative writing and find it hard to articulate some of my ideas into words and visuals. I spent most of the time writing the middle section of the film as I knew how I wanted it to start and end but I wasn't sure of how to get my plot and characters from A to B. I found it easiest to put a small bullet point list of some of the symptoms, props and effects I wanted to include somewhere in the film and then go into more detail for each one. I would then look for places where I could join some of the bullet points together and, again, go into more detail. I kept doing this until I had a paragraph of a plot for the middle section, then all I had to do was transfer that into a script format.
Making the storyboard was much easier although I still struggled to plan each shot in my head and then transfer that onto paper. When filming I usually have a rough storyboard set out of what I want to film and then improvise the individual shots. I find this way is more fun for me as it's more creative and allows the video to feel less scripted and planned, which I think is often important in a horror film.
