To whom it may concern,

My name is Hannah Couch, I am a second year student at Plymouth College of Art. I am writing to you to inform you about a piece of work I have completed which may interest you and your company. I wanted to inform you about my work because your company directly impacts and helps those who desperately need vital things to live, whether it be food, shelter, clothing, medical assistance and money both here in the UK and abroad.

My project is about money and greed. I made a video exploring how our society has thought about it and how this has changed through the years. Starting at the 1920's and moving to modern day, I have edited together relevant clips that show the changes in how money is desired and for what purpose. I have also included examples of people and causes who actually need money, for instance homeless people and refugees. I made this video to spread awareness of several issues which are directly impacted by money and lack thereof. I wanted to put into perspective how lucky the majority of people are and how we need to help others who lack what we have plenty of: money. I also wanted to promote various charities which help people with different issues around this such as dirty water; homelessness; refugees without proper shelter; and general poverty around the world.

I am interested in this topic as it is a very large part of todays society and the majority of people today place an extremely high value on acquiring money and materialistic objects. I wanted to draw attention to this and make people have a look at how they live and how highly they value money over other, more important things.

I have targeted this video towards people between 15-35 years of age as these people use the internet more and are more likely to watch the video. They are also the younger generation and will, therefore, be encouraged to have a more respectful attitude towards money and those less fortunate than them in the future. I have included in the video songs, clips, people and brands that this age group should recognise. This means that they can watch the video and understand the point I am making because they will understand the context behind each clip.

In order to make this video I had to research different events in history that had a big impact on how our society used and thought of money, as well as modern day issues and topics that are fuelled by money and greed. I then had to find relevant clips to portray this time/issue and make sure that it was both easy to understand the context and fit in the video well.

I think my work is successful in communicating my ideas and opinions as it's an entertaining video to watch and also touches on lots of different social and political issues that involve money and greed.

Yours Faithfully,

Hannah Couch
